ミンとロドスが助けられた翌日、レイはアブエロの街中を1人で歩いていた.
　……そう. 1人で、だ.
　さすがに前日には緊急事態ということで、セトが街中に入るのをギルドマスター権限を使って許可して貰ったのだが、明るい中でグリフォンを自由にさせる訳にはいかないと申し訳なさそうにティラージュに言われた為だ.
　現在のセトは街の外で自由にモンスターを狩って腹を満たし、あるいは温かくなってきた陽気に昼寝をするといった風に街の外で楽しんでいた.
　もっとも、それも今日だけなのだが.
　本来であれば、ミンとロドスを助けた以上はもう用は無いとギルムの街へ帰ろうとしたレイとセト. だが雷神の斧最大の戦力でもあるエルクがいない以上は、ミンとロドスだけでギルムの街に戻るのは危険だと判断して共に戻ることになったのだ.
　そしてその2人は、人質になっていた間の事情聴取やミンが捕まる切っ掛けになったロドスへの襲撃事件といったことの説明で、今日1日は街中に留まる必要があった. その為に今日は休日と割り切ったレイは、以前護衛で通った時には殆ど見ることが出来なかった街中を見て回っていた.

「へぇ. この槍はいい品だな」
「だろう？　うちと取引のある鍛冶屋から回ってきた代物だ. マジックアイテムの類じゃないが、純粋な武器として見れば極上物だぜ. It's just... You can't buy it for a priest. The price is appropriate for it."

「ああ、美味い. ……ただ、買えるのは皿だけなのか？　出来れば持ち帰り用に買いたいんだが」
「あー……悪いな、坊主. 残念ながら持ち帰りは考えていないんだ. 食器の問題でな. まさか屋台で食器ごと売る訳にもいかないしな」
「……なら、食器は俺が用意しよう. その中に作った焼きうどんを入れて売るってのはどうだ？」

　思わず唾を飲みながら焼きうどんを見ていると、皿に入れられた焼きうどんが渡される.

「ほら. そんなに物欲しそうな顔をしなくても、この焼きうどんはお前のなんだから気にせずに食え」
「あ、ああ」

　つい先程も1皿分食べたばかりだというのに、レイの腹はまだ足りない、もっとよこせ、いくらでも食い尽くしてやるとばかりに自己主張をする.
　そんな誘惑に負けるようにして、渡されたフォークを皿へと伸ばし……結局その場にいた蒼穹の刃の4人もまたレイに奢って貰って焼きうどんを食べるのだった.
　こうして通りの一画ではそれからしばらく香ばしい匂いが漂い、否が応でも近くを通りかかっている通行人達の食欲を刺激することになる.
