40-leaving on a journey

It was the day before the entrance ceremony of the Earthria Magic Academy the next day.
I, Abel, was sitting on a chair by the window and looking at the scenery outside.

''Abel-sama. Are you ready to go?

Suddenly, he is approached from behind.
The name of the silver-haired beauty with a distinctive slender body is Lilith.

For various reasons, I had come to live with Lilith, the 'Demon King's Daughter' who saved my life 200 years ago.

''Oh. No problem. I've already packed my bags.

What we are currently doing is preparing for our move.

The Erthria Magic Academy is a boarding school.

Since it is too far from this remote area, it was necessary to move the base of life to the royal capital Midgard in order to attend the academy.

''Are you going to miss ......?''

When Lilith asked me about it, I looked out the window in silence instead of answering.
The view from the second floor has not changed at all since I arrived in this era.

Even the ridge line and the trees in the forest don't seem to have changed.

This land is an ordinary place with nothing to say about it.

But after living in this place for more than two years, you start to get attached to it.

We'll be back for the summer holidays.

Lilith smiled a little more gently.
I didn't reply, but pulled down the window curtains and locked the door. Locking the door, for the last time.

'Hey!' Master!

There was a thump, and the door was opened.

A young boy, Ted, a little shorter than I am, with blond hair that looks like burnt tortoiseshell candy, enters.

I've taught him many things over the past two years, but the only thing he's never learned is how to open the door quietly.

Let's get going! Let's go! The carriage is getting away!

 He's still a noisy guy.
Ted jumps up and down like a rabbit and hurries me over.

'I mean, dude. What's the matter with you? That stuff.

I pointed to the paper bags Ted was carrying in both hands.
Whatever he'd filled them with, the four paper bags Ted held in his hand were puffed up like balloons.

'Hehehe! I'm glad you listened to me!

Ted placed the paper bag on the floor and rummaged through what was inside.

'This is a Langhobalt territory specialty! 'Snowball Manjuice'!

 ............

 No, I don't know.

I've lived here for over two years and I've never heard of it.
Can we really call such a thing a 'local specialty'?

You ....... Are you planning to start a business in the academy?

'No, sir! I'm giving these out to all the friends I've made at the school!

'That's a lot. It must be hard to give away that much.

Don't worry. Mr. Lilith! After all, I'm going to make 100 friends at school!

Ted smiles innocently, showing his teeth with a grin.

 A hundred friends.
That's about as uninteresting to me as it gets.

I'm just fine with it as long as I can graduate from the school in peace, unnoticed and without attracting anyone's attention.

''Look, Master, let's go!

Master Abel. I'll get your luggage out of here.

I sit up and get up from my chair as they call out to me.

A horse waned and a carriage went by.
A few moments later, the small house we've lived in for many years comes into view in the distance.

And so we leave Langobarth territory.

I look out the window of the carriage and see that the snow that had been building up for so long has melted, and new life is sprouting on the land.
