30 Episode 28: A mysterious pharmacist

The long spell of rain has finally stopped. The sky is still covered with thick clouds, but it's been a long time since I could walk without an umbrella. Jeannette is showing great energy, saying, "I'll have to wash my clothes now." Yes, I'm fine in the sky. "Well, if you have a stomachache, you'll get better after a day's sleep.""...yes, sir," Jeanette sighed several times next to me pulling a truck loaded with leftover ingredients. Bertina, who went down yesterday from overeating and overeating, did not show up for dinner again this morning when she was sick. The children's expressions are dark, the gennette is sinking, and there's a lot of food left over... I really want them to realize how much trouble they're causing around themselves. "I'm still a little full. I'm sure you're a good sister." Estella, walking a little in front of her, rubs her stomach. That's true, isn't it? I've eaten my bread, naan, pizza, okonomiyaki, tortillas, and loads of popcorn since morning... too much carbohydrate. "All of you, fattense."You're being rude to Lady, Jillo,""Be a "gut bong bong bong""I don't want such a unique figure!" Next to Estella peeling her fangs, Jeanette sighs. "I'd like to take care of you, if possible." Jeanette's worries are at a serious level. But there's nothing you can do with Jeanette around you: you can digest your overeating and wait patiently for the ravaged gastric mucosa to return to normal. Or, if you had Jeanette, you'd make delicious porridge and give it a lot, which might be counterproductive. "Well, Mr. Magda. Today, if I leave the shop to you..." Hey, come on! Don't make unreasonable demands on Magda! It's impossible, isn't it? This is what we call a dandelion. Some fans love it and enjoy it. Dandelion alone won't make it, will it?"... That's impossible, Mr. Manager," Magda flatly rejects it, either, if she knows it. "...when it stops raining, the hunting guild tells me to accompany them to check the hunting grounds.""Is that so?""...yes," I've never heard of it. I wish you had said that in advance. "Then I think we should take a day off to-day?" Estella! What are you talking about!? Yodamari-tei, which already has few customers, will be closed for no reason!? What if the poor, who have nothing but free time, take a rest! Even if it's 1Rb, it's the tradesman who earns money!"...I don't want to take a day off. I don't want to disappoint anyone who came all the way to the Yodamari-tei.""Well said, Jeanette! That spirit of trying not to miss the golden vine! Good job!""Oh, that's what you mean!""Jinnette, don't take Jiro seriously.""Oh... are you kidding? I'm glad.""No... I guess it's not a joke..." Estella's skeptical eyes are directed at me. Yes. I'm serious. What is it is it? But if Jeanette goes on like this, she'll have trouble with her business."I don't think so. When I looked forward, pulling a heavy truck, I found the man I was looking for at at the right time. "All right, Jeanette. I'll do something about Bertina.""Really!" Jeanette looks at me with a look of conviction that Bertina's stomachache will improve in an instant if I feel like it. ... I want you to stop expecting too much. But, well, it's stomachache. If you treat it right and treat it right, you'll get well tomorrow. And we've just been able to guess what to do about it. I approached the man I had just found -- Mormat, who squatted down into the field and worked. "Oh! Momat!""Huh? Oh, is it Jiro? Is it a donation to church again today? Don't work hard.""It's Jeanette who's trying so hard, and I'm just involved.""Hooray!? Oh, that's too much, Mr. Yashiro!" What, Jeanette? Did you think I was helping you donate to the church? You have no eye for people, don't you? I'm the watchman who keeps tabs on you so that you can save even a little bit of waste.""And what is it today? I'm sorry, but I don't have much time to take care of the field." Mormat looks embarrassed, but I can understand it. Days of heavy rain has caused the fields to splatter and some have been submerged. This will cause root rot and wipe out the plants. I'm sure we should take immediate action to prepare for the next rain. Then I'll finish my business briefly. "Don't you have radishes?""Daikon?" Yes, it's radish. Radishes are rich in digestive enzymes called diastase. It breaks when heated, so you can eat it raw or grated radish properly. If you are hungry, grate the radish. The day after I ate a lot, the landlady used to serve me grated radish. It's rich in fiber and good for relieving constipation. If you feed Bertina some grated radish, she'll gradually feel better. --though I thought. "I'm sorry. All the crops in the field have been ruined.""...what?""It rained longer than I thought... most of the vegetables were harvested early, but the radishes and cabbages were still too early to be harvested. So I was going to stick to them until the very last minute... I made a mistake in my judgment... they all went bad." What!? It's a big blow, isn't it? So, what, daikon, can't you get it' d*mn, I was expecting... I don't know any other good way. ...but wait........."... wouldn't Bertina digest it, even if it was a little rotten?""You can't!? You can't go to bed with your stomach full, but you can't go to bed with anything rotten!" You know what I know. I'm kidding. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "Well, I can't help it. Jeanette, give it up. Why, if you sleep, you'll get better."`...wow...that's the only thing I can do Alice."No. Then let's go home." If you stay here for a long time, Jeanette could start saying she'll help Mormat. "Well, wait, Jillo," Estella calls me off as I walked out to get home quickly. That's right..."You said, 'I'll do something about Bertina,'" ...................... no way, this guy..."Do your best, I'm not a doctor. Nothing I could do without radish.""But you said it yourself, 'I'll do something about Bertina.'" d*mn, I've said something careless."Maybe it's because it's been loose lately. "Well, Mr. Estella! Mr. Jiro did everything he could, and nothing more...""No, there's still more to be done," Estella grinned bitterly. "What are you going to do?""I'm going to get some herbs," What are the common quests for RPGs? Can I get a key to some site in return?"Where is the herb?" Don't you think it's absurd to go out of town and look around in the forest where the beasts appear, or to climb the rocky mountain where the dragon's nest is?""Where is the pharmacy?""...what?""The pharmacy is across the main street, and will you come and get some medicine for my stomach?" . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . May I help you?"Oh, that's it. Well, that's about it." Rock, paper, scissors! Suddenly a loud metallic sound made my heart throb. I saw Mormat leaning on a farm tool spread out at his feet. ...what are you doing? But there's something strange about it. "Well, the drug-shop is... you mean Regina Englind?" Regina Englind?"But,""Don't do that, Jillo! Don't say anything bad! Stay away from him!""Oh, hey... what? Are you that stupid?""It's no joke... he's a devil's errand." The devil's errand...?"Regina is a woman who came from outside like Jillo, but she's a suspicious fellow, and she tries to make people drink by powdering funny things that don't seem to work for them. Like the corpse of a disgusting beast." What is that? That'said he."If you're such a dangerous fellow, you can get rid of him,""You can't do it!? You're a devil's errand!""The devil's errand... is it magic?""I don't know... but perhaps that's the case." Mormat's forehead is dripping with sweat. Mormat's pale-faced appearance alone showed enough of the abnormalities of a woman named Regina. "Anyhow... I've heard of this, too.""The Spirit's Judgment" doesn't work for him.""What!""Judgment of the Spirit" doesn't work...?"Is that true!""No, that's why I heard it!""What did you hear? Tell me more!" This is great information. If there was a way to invalidate the "Judgment of the Spirit" -- it was all you could do! I think we need to look into the woman named Regina. "Oh, I heard it. I heard it..." After Mormat made a cautionary introduction, he began to talk about what he knew about Regina. "If he had no choice but to turn to Regina, he was about to drink something which was obviously dangerous, and he said, 'That can't work for the fever! If you tell a lie, you'll have the Spirit judge you!'" Mormat's throat creaks. He must have run a chill down his spine... and shivered. "--and Regina said, 'Try it... I'll never be a frog.'" did he declare clearly that the Spirit's Judgment was ineffective?""Is that really true? It's not perfect.""He says he didn't seem to be lying at all. Look at the atmosphere and the way he speaks." Absolute confidence-backed words and deeds... ...interesting. "Astella, where is the pharmacy?""Are you going?""Oh, of course--"for I cannot say that I am interested in how to invalidate the "Judgment of the Spirit."????`--I'm afraid of Bertina,'"Yasilo is kind," Estella squints her eyes. He certainly doesn't believe my statement, but he doesn't pretend to blame me. ...what is he up to?" Do you want me to meet the pharmacist and do something? Well, that's fine. What I need now is information. I want all the information I might need, whether it's breathtaking or urban legend. Let's go along with what you's. "Oh, hey... Jiro. Are you sure you're going?" Momat asks me anxiously. It's a strange feeling to be worried about crocodile faces, because it's more dangerous to have crocodiles around you in Japan. "Why don't you ask the pharmacist's guild for medicine? It's a little expensive, but it's safer, isn't it?""The Yakushi Guild?""It's an all-bloom crotch guild that binds up pharmacists. Many people buy medicine from it." Estella gives a polite explanation. He doesn't really like the other person when he speaks like this. "But the price of medicine is so high that it's hard for the general public to deal with it." Look at that'say! Come to think of it, when I bought a medicine box at the Hunting Guild, he was giving me a gold coin. Is medicine expensive after all? "And isn't that Regina?""She said that she didn't like the way the pharmacist guild was done, so she made another guild.""Is that possible? Wasn't the church controlling the competitive guild?""You don't have to compete,""But you sell medicine, don't you?""The drug was made in a completely different way, so it was not considered a problem." Is it a method of making medicine? To sum up Estella's story, the Guild uses safe medicinal herbs grown in a herb farm jointly managed by the Church and the Guild to make medicines using traditional recipes. Regina, on the other hand, seems to be making medicine out of unsafe grass, and it is also said to be unique in its manufacturing process. The Pharmacist Guild, which has absolute security, recognition and proven experience through joint management with the Church, and Regina, who appears to be making suspicious medicines out of unidentified grasses and demons, seem to have given the Church permission to establish a new guild, as it was judged that they would not compete with each other. Rather, it might be fair to say that Regina isolated herself from entering the Yakushikyu guild. "She's the only guild she has right now. Of course, there's no guild outside of the 42 wards. She's a community-based pharmacy." In short, it's tiny, isn't it?"And it can be said that it is the only pharmacy in the 42 wards.""Is there no branch of the Yakushi Guild in the Forty-second Ward?""There are many poor people in the 42 wards...""Do you mean that medicine is expensive and there aren't many people buying it?""Yes, and if it's not business, the merchant won't be there." wrinkle between Estella's eyebrows That may be the reason why Estella dislikes the Yakushiku guild. This guy somehow likes the 42nd leg. In other words, Estella's aim is this. I'm trying to demonstrate that Regina's medicine is safe and effective. But it was Bertina who would be the laboratory table." As far as Mormat is concerned, she is also a dangerous woman to even meet in person. I want to use it, if I can, but I'm afraid to try it myself... Is it me? Konoyaro... Don't do it for me. But, well, that's all right. I've taken an interest in the Regina myself. "Never mind. I'll get on with your trick, Estella.""It's a surprise. I just gave you information.""Ah, Mr. Jiro...huh!" Jeanette, who had been listening in silence, utters a tone of impatience. With an anxious expression, he slowly opens his mouth, squeezing out words that are hard to say. "Well... are you all right?""Leave it to me. I'm not going to let Bertina drink it if she looks suspicious.""No, no! No, no... Mr. Jiro...""What?" I can't see Jeanette's face as she looks down. But it's not hard to imagine what he looks like because he holds his hands tightly. "...if anything happens to Mr. Jiro... ...I...." I'm sure Jeanette has heard of Regina. He may have the impression that he is a bad wizard. However, as soon as a lie is pointed out to me, the 'judgment of the spirit' is the magic of the bad nature. As long as I live in a city full of such things, I don't think it's a problem to deal with one or two bad wizards. "Well, I'll be very careful, so don't worry about it.""...yes," I don't know what to watch out for, but I'll laugh at you. It'll be nothing more than a relief. "Well, Mormat, I'm sorry to disturb you,""Oh, oh, oh, oh, I don't care. I thank Mormat for the information and I put my hand on the truck. "Yasilo!""Huh?""...be careful,""Ah," wave lightly at the anxious crocodile If you look like that, your anxiety will spread to Jeanette. Don't worry.Say goodbye to Mormat and we start walking towards the Yodamari-tei. "Is that what you thought?" As you walk, ask Estella who approaches you. However, Estella did not answer the question, and after a moment of silence she began to say: "I have seen Regina," Oh... I see. "How was your impression?""I don't know. Everything was beyond my common sense.""...what a pain in the ass,""But... he's not a bad man." Is it your wish? I wish you would at least say "I think," that's it. "I should have asked you honestly, if you didn't say it that way.""Will you be honest in my request?""There will be a charge,""I thought so. So I've made some money this time, haven't I?" Estella smiles weakly. "Is the shortage of medicine so serious?""... can you read people's minds?" Estella gazes into the distance with her usual calm face, though she looks momentarily surprised. Walk forward as if you were keeping pace with me. "The Yakushikyu guild provides medicine to nobles and large guilds at low prices and benefits from power, while it sells medicine to the general public at exorbitant rates.""It's up to the guild to decide the price of goods. If it's a must, there'll be demand even if it's a little bit higher.""I don't care if it's a little... unless it's a sum that the public can't afford.""Is it that expensive?" Products will naturally not sell if they are priced out of reach prices that are beyond the reach of the purchasers. There must be a limit to raising the price. However, Estella remained sour and denied my common sense. "Not a hundred and ten percent of the 42 wards can buy medicine,""You can't do business, can you?""You don't have to make it work. It's got a nobleman." If you don't sell medicine at a low price, it's no problem if the aristocrats buy it if necessary... If it's connected to the church, I don't think the pharmacist's guild will go bankrupt. "The Yakushiki guild is fine, isn't it? But what should I do if I can't get the medicine for that reason?" I can't buy medicine and get sick...It's a common sight in historical dramas, but..."If Regina's medicine is available to your eyes, I want to spread it to the Forty-two wards.""What if it was useless?""Keep the status quo." I see. Is there any disadvantage if it's worth trying and it doesn't work? ...except that I'm going to take care of course. "... I'm sorry. There's a reason why I can I?" Unusually, Estella shows a disconsolate look. This is what he looks like. I can't move freely... I'm not going to pry into it. It makes no difference to me. If you can't move, don't move. "Can I ask you?""I'll get a reward,""...what do you want?""You,"`What!' Stops and stiffens as if Estella had petrified. "Have you heard that ... information you have?""Well, will you not separate the words in confusing places!" Stomping down the muddy road, Estella approaches. Stop it! The mud is flying!"And what information do you want?""It's all about guilds and licenses.""You've provided that before, haven't you?""And then I went one step further... and the weakness of the lord." Estella's expression disappears. Now that she's serious, she looks a little beautiful on the other hand. "...are you going to set up anything for your lord?""No way. I, a pacifist, would be willing to make a fuss?""Why, then, did you mention the weaknesses of the lord?""It's a bargaining chip. Insurance for future disadvantages.""Are you going to do something against your lord?""Not so far, but I don't know what is against the law in this city." I never thought I'd make bread and become a criminal. "If that's the way I'm going to be chased..." From here on out, I'll say it in a serious voice without any jokes. It's a matter of my life. Tell Estella straight, with a serious look. "I want you to be by my side,"「…………」"With you, I think I can manage most things.""... Jillo,""What?""………………………………It sounds like a proposal." Estella's face turns red at once. The back bends slowly, the face turns downward, and the head is covered with both arms. Then he straightens out his right arm and expresses his intention to stay away from me. "I understand most of what you mean. I think I can give you a positive answer. But wait for you to reply in this state right now. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .." Estella suddenly shows off her girlish side. I mean... I didn't mean it either, but... my heart beats so fast!"Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh... d*mn it, shame on you!I'd rather run away right now, but the truck is too heavy to do so. Well, I wish Estella would be smart enough to go a long way, but what did she think of it? She's always walking in step with me. ... It won't be long before she walks. Jeanette and Magda have been walking at a distance from me and Estella since they started talking. ...will you come back?" In the end, none of us walked silent from there until we returned to the Yodamari-tei. I've never thought this was such a long journey... I'm tired beyond necessity. I'd like to see an unidentified pharmacist after this, or I'd really like you to forgive me." Returning to the Yodamari-tei, Estella left early and Magda headed for the Hunting Guild. Carry the leftover ingredients to the kitchen and clear the cart into the courtyard. In the meantime, Jeanette was busy preparing for the opening of the shop, but... she still looks kind of course. "Genet"."Yes, yes..." What a worryful fellow! a space for two people I guess I have no choice but to cheer you up here. Well, that's it. I can't do a customer service business like this. It's for sales, to put it bluntly. "Don't worry too much. Bad things don't really come true.""...is that so?""When you're worried, people get more and more negative, but that's not the worst situation you can imagine. It's no use thinking about it."...yes," Jeanette's expression doesn't clear up at all. Quite a bit of negative thinking must be at work. "Well, Jeanette. Put your fears into words. I'll deny them all.""...denial?""Oh, I'll take care of all your worries. I hope you don't have to worry and I can work as usual." Bertina's stomachache will heal tomorrow. Most people are worried about things like, "What if I don't get better?" and "Maybe it's my fault." By denying that it's not going to happen, he'll feel a little better. There are times when I want someone to say for sure. "Don't worry, it's absolutely fine." Especially when you're weak‐minded. If you give me an immediate answer, it's even better. Then I'll buy you the part. ... just for the sake of sales. "And then... all right?""Oh, give it up to your heart's content.""Yes...." With a deep breath, Jeanette exhaled boldly. "I'm very worried that Mr. Jiro will leave here!""That's not possible, is it?""Really!""What? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... that? What about Bertina?"...I'm glad..." Jeanette caresses her relieved heart. His shoulders drop sharply and he looks weak. What? What? Are you going to disappear? Why did you think that? Was it like I was going to run away at night?"Mr. Jiro,""Huh? Oh, what?""Thank you. Thanks to you, I feel lighter. You're so amazing!" With a bowing bow, Jeanette smiled broadly. "Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh... well," What... I'm not sure, but I think he's feeling better. Then I wonder if the result is OK.........?"Well, I'll get ready to open. Mr. Yashiro...." When I start to say it, my expression is dimmed for a moment. But he smiles hard and turns his words to me. "Take care and come back.""Ah... I'll be back," After Jeanette saw me off, I left the Yangtari-tei. I was thinking about Jeanette as I walked toward the main street. What did he worry about and what did he do to get rid of it?"I'm very worried that Mr. Jiro will leave here!" I'm leaving the Yodamari-tei.........? I wonder where he thought so..."...I don't know," Walking unanswered, I found myself in front of a pharmacy taught me by Estella. I couldn't prepare myself at all. You've got to be. The drugstore is a detached house in a small alley across the main street, slightly boloyed in appearance, with tin plates hanging from the top of the door, marked like triangular flasks. Mormat's strange fright catches my mind. What kind of weirdo will come out... Calm down, calm down... If you make sure you don't get caught up in the first meeting, you'll be able to negotiate well. "All right... shall we go?" Knock, just in case, and push open the slightly poorly built door. Gee... creaking, glass rattling at the top of the door, opening the door. There was a peculiar smell from inside that seemed to be of medicine.Dim, wall-to-wall shelves are lined with unknown items, giving you a sense of oppression. Something moved in the back of such a strange shop. She was wearing a black robe and a wizardly hat... a beautiful woman. He has long green hair hanging down his face and gazing at me. There's nothing strange about it, but somehow the atmosphere is not ordinary... that's what I feel like that. The beautiful woman, Regina Englind, who emerged from the counter at the back of the shop, slowly approached me. They stare at me without blinking, sometimes close their eyes, and slowly approach me. Then, when he stopped right in front of me, his face came close to me. Regina's face approaches the tip of her nose, and a faint floral scent tickles her nasal cavity. Maybe it's because I've been indoors for a long time, but my skin is transparent white and fine‐grained. My skin is beautiful. His eyes have a strange impression that he is not looking at anything, and his small nose gives off aegyo. In a different way from Magda, a face with a fabulous, unrealistic beauty observes my face from an impending distance. "Oh, um... it's close, but...""What...?" At my voice, Regina drew back about two steps. Then he clapped his hands to see what he was convinced of and pointed at me and said loudly. "Why, are you a customer?" Or......... Kansai dialect? My first contact with a mysterious pharmacist in a mysterious aura was, in a way, a tremendous shock to me.
